Most Americans understand and appreciate that police have a difficult job. Cops are exposed to the worst side of society on a daily basis and often find themselves in potentially life threatening situations.
What most White Americans don't fully understand (but perhaps are starting to realize) is that Black Americans find every encounter with law enforcement potentially dangerous.
The 14th amendment states that all citizens should have equal protection under the law but its long been apparent that minorities need equal protection from the law.
The ignorance and covert racism shown by Marc St. Laurent below is too common. Whatever the truth of the incident in South Carolina, there is no justification for shooting an unarmed man five times in the back and then lying about what occurred.

NH born and raised.. Live Free or Die Granite Stater at heart.. Three ticks to the right of Reagan
Still waiting for one of you to say "#WalterScott prolly attacked the cop" but didn't deserve to die.. til then, he is guilty
The more you people say #WalterScott was TOTALLY innocent, the more I think that cop shouldn't be prosecuted
Dear #WalterScott apologists.. if he was so innocent, why was the taser on the ground so far away? Why did the cop have to run to go get it?
If you #WalterScott protesters plan on interrupting my brunch tomorrow, can you buy me a Bloody Mary for the inconvenience?
